Local moves

Local moves typically happen in an average of three to ten days. When you book a move, we will contact you shortly with carrier information. Some remote areas may take additional time to service. Your move is a pre-paid frieght experience with a professional piano mover. Contracted moves are non-refundable for change of mind, change of schedule, change of plans. Moves may be re-scheduled for a later date with adequate notice prior to moving schedule. Rates are calculated based on our online quote system. By contracting this move, you agree to be bound by those rates. You are expected to have a working knowledge of which type of piano you have scheduled, how many stairs you might have on pickup and delivery locations, hills, terrain types, etc that the piano may have to cross. The cost of your move is based on the information which you provide to the system, or to our representative. For example, if you state that your piano is 6 feet long, then we have based your quote on a 6ft piano move. Should the move be completed, and the piano measured seven feet, then you card will be billed upon completion the difference in cost. By clicking I Agree at the bottom, you hereby authorize Move-A-Piano.com to charge your card upon completion for undisclosed circumstances around the moving of your piano. These may include: Crane lifts, all terrain crossings (grass / gravel / dirt / or other), long yards or driveways, tight corners not well negociable by a piano, stairs mentioned or not mentioned, elevators, or anything that seems complicated when moving 600-1400lbs.

Local moves are usually completed within ten days. The mover will contact you to arrange with their schedule. There will be extra charges for set - date moves or rush moves. Please ask about rates in your area. Payment received represents agreement with these terms.

PIANO MOVING AND DELIVERY DISCLAIMER AND
TERMS OF AREEMENT FOR LONG HAUL MOVES rev. 8/15/2005

Note to recipient: Please read the following agreement thoroughly PRIOR to signing. Should you need clarification of terms, please contact our customer service department at 800-515-5432. Any piano that is moved using this service will do so under the following terms. Payment received represents agreement with these terms.

Move-A-Piano.com (hereafter referred to as MP) is a piano moving agency which acts as liaison between customers and piano movers, whereby through large quantities of moves, we are able to negociate exceptional rates on behalf of customers. Though Move-A-Piano.com is not responsible for damage or accidents which may occur, it will "go to bat" for its customers to help in resolving any issues which may arise, and represents that it uses only movers which meet the following criteria:

I. PIANO MOVING

A. They will pick up your piano, organ, harpsichord, or instrument of varying lengths and sizes. Move will be billed based on our online quote system, and the rate that it commands. Not on what you think your instrument is. If you think you have an upright piano, and contract such service, then the mover arrives, and the piano is a grand piano, the grand piano rate will be billed to your card.

B. They will have your items picked up and delivered within an average of 6-8 weeks (though MP and its piano movers continually strive for a 4-6 week delivery). (Be advised that due to high number of deliveries, there may be times when a delivery will be prolonged (Usually Christmas time). However, they will do everything they can to expedite the move). Be aware that specific short windows of time for pickup or delivery may not be accomodated. You might want to have a local mover pick it up if you are in a hurry, and have it stored at a regularly accessable location until the truck arrives. If you are unable to be present for delivery, you might choose a local mover to have the piano delivered to that can deliver out on your schedule.

C. A basic insurance policy of $5,000 with a deductable of $500.00 is available at no additional charge. To qualify for this policy, please send or email pictures of the piano from every angle before the date of pickup. You may email them to: insurance@move-a-piano.com. Coverage includes damages up to $5000.00 with a $500.00 deductible. Please note that all damages must be reported within a 24 hour period of receiving piano, along with a claims form within one week. Claims form will be available upon request. Additional insurance is available at $250 for the first $10,000, and $150.00 for each additional $10,000 insurance. This insurance will cover two types of damages: The first will be marine cargo, which will handle theft or damage of the vehicle transporting the piano. The second will cover handling of the piano to and from the home. Coverage is underwritten by Lloyds of London.

D. Payment will be due in advance for all moves. Special financing is available whereby you may pay 1/2 in advance, and the other 1/2 upon delivery. The cost for this financing will be 10% of the total bill.

If you decide to change your mind about the move for any reason, please specify in writing within 5 business days of original booking date. For cancellations within this 5 day time frame, 1/2 of total bill will be retained to cover booking, scheduling, trucking, fuel, driver housing, and other costs associated with scheduling a piano pickup. Initial 1/2 payment will not be refundable for schedule changes, changes in delivery, change of mind, or personal issues, since real hard costs are incurred in scheduling, loading, preparing for your move, as well as fuel costs in transit. Once a piano has been loaded and is en route to its destination, should a change in destination be required (particularly one which is more than a few miles from the original destination), may be charged another delivery fee or 1/2 delivery fee depending on the distance from originally scheduled destination. Move cancellations following the 5 day period will be due in full. For moves which are financed, a lien will be placed upon the piano. By contracting this move, you are agreeing to authorize Move-A-Piano.com to hold as colateral by lein or any other means the piano in transit for any deliquency in payment, reversal of payment (such as credit card chargeback), or any shortfall in the agreed transportation price, and agree to allow repossession for reversals, returned checks, or faulty means of payment.

II. DELIVERY & SET UP

A. MP offers delivery and set up to your home/business with no more than 3 (three) steps at a flat rate.

B. MP's trucking companies will do everything possible to protect and safely move piano into customer's residence. Please be advised that cosmetically sensitive floors such as hardwood, linoleum, tile floors and steps need to be protected by home owner. MP will bring protective material with delivery and will do everything possible to safely move piano into home, but assumes no responsibility for floor and step condition before or after move. (Often times on older homes, the weight of the piano alone, being rolled across a weak floor on a piano dolly may crack hardwood or tile, and with regards to a piano that has been set up in a particular spot on hardwood, tile, or marble: there are only two guys delivering. If a customer asks them to move it around, two guys is not adaquate to move the piano around on hardwood. Rolling the wheels on it may scratch it. It takes four guys to lift a piano and move it around. Therefore, we are not responsible for scratches from these moves. If you would like your piano placed on such flooring carefully, be sure to have two extra guys there to help lift and carry the piano.) Linoleum may tear when a piano is set on it, then rolled around. Moving a piano up and down stairs which are not concrete or carpeted is a dangerous operation. Any time you put 600-1400 pounds on stairs, there is a risk that something may break, scratch, tear, etc. We do not recommend ever moving a piano up or down stairs, but it is the nature of how homes are built, and the determination to have a piano moved up or down them that makes it a necessity for some customers. A crane is the preferred method for moving most pianos up stairs, however, due to the extremes, MP and it's movers keep the risk decisions regarding stairs and floors in the hands of the home or business owner. If you choose to move a piano over them, you should be sure the floor is strong, and know the risks of the various flooring types. Please ask questions in advance if you have any.

C. Fuel surcharges will coincide with most standard shippers (to include Fed Ex and UPS) (Please note, Fed Ex and UPS use smaller tables for fuel surcharges because they operate many of their trucks on Natural Gas. Larger trucks must operate on Diesel, which is much more costly). While Diesel fuel remains above $1.65 per gallon, a general fuel surcharge will apply. For example, if diesel fuel sells for a national average of $2.89 per gallon, then the surcharge will be $165.00 for moves over 1000 miles, and $130.00 for moves under 1000 miles. If you have any questions, please call.

D. Due to this extremely low rate for the shared ride move, it is imperitave that delivery take place in a very timely manner. Any unexpected delays due to special circumstances, no shows, unexpected stairs, turns, gravel or grass, big hills, etc, may result in additional expenses or waiting time. Unexpected stairs may require the expense of a return trip, or a waiting period for a local crew to come help. Waiting time will be billed at $180 per hour. Plan about two hours for delivery once the truck arrives. Most will take less time, but the unloading a piano will not be rushed to meet time deadlines. Drivers will call the day before delivery or pickup and attempt to connect with you to offer a time window. If they are unable to reach you, and no-one is there when they arrive, there will be a $400.00 fee to bring the truck back again. This is a mandatory re-schedule fee that covers the cost of returning the truck to your location a second time. Should a truck arrive at a location, and there is a situation that was not disclosed such as an unexpected stairway, you may be billed for a return trip in addition to the stairs.

E. Most direct routes cost $20,000 for the trip. You have contracted a shared ride move which allows multiple customers to share the cost of the trip, thereby saving time and money. This factor means that there are many other customers involved in your trip. Each truck has its pianos loaded in order to prevent un-necessarily stopping and loading or unloading an entire truck to re-shuffle the pianos. Asking a truck to rush your move might require an excessive charge if not pre-planned.

E. This agreement represents authorization to charge your credit card upon completion for any unpaid balance resulting from partial payment on booking, or from unexpected circumstances at your pickup or delivery location. If you have questions, please ask. To get adequate estimates, please send pictures of any area in question.

MP reserves the right to change the terms of this agreement at any time without notice. Please print yourself a copy to validate the terms which you have committed.
